Being an educational advisor means supporting the development of effective and innovative teaching practices to promote student success and engagement.
On a daily basis, you provide advice and support to school teams regarding the implementation, development, and evaluation of curricula, classroom management, and didactics. You contribute to the professional development of staff and the continuous improvement of teaching practices, taking into account the realities and needs of the environment.
Responsibilities
The role of educational advisor in inclusive approach and orthopedagogical support involves performing functions of support, advice, training, research, and development aimed at promoting the success of all students from an inclusive education perspective.
The person in this position plays a central role with school teams by supporting the implementation of inclusive and differentiated teaching practices. They assist educators in preventing learning difficulties, analyzing student needs, and adapting teaching-learning situations to respond to the diversity of profiles.
They specifically support teachers and orthopedagogues by contributing to:
the planning and implementation of universal, targeted, and intensive teaching practices;
the development and application of adaptation and support measures;
the development of strategies in reading, writing, and mathematics, as well as cognitive and metacognitive strategies.
In a collaborative approach, they work closely with other educational advisors (special education, subjects) as well as with multidisciplinary teams. They participate in various instances related to student pathways, including classification processes, and may also contribute to research or pedagogical innovation projects.
The person is expected to intervene in primary and secondary schools of the Marguerite-Bourgeoys School Service Center to provide training, facilitate educational activities, and support school staff. They also collaborate with external partners and contribute to the development of practices within the team of educational advisors in the inclusive approach.
Support for school teams
They support teams in:
the implementation of inclusion processes for students in regular classes;
the development, monitoring, and evaluation of intervention plans;
the processes related to adaptations and modifications of learning and assessment.
Support for teaching staff
They offer personalized support aimed at:
documenting and analyzing the learning profile of students;
planning differentiated pedagogical interventions;
proposing, modeling, and adjusting flexible and adapted teaching strategies;
suggesting relevant adaptation measures;
supporting classroom management by promoting explicit teaching of expected behaviors and clarifying academic and behavioral expectations.
Requirements
Terminal university degree in a field of specialization appropriate to the position, particularly in education;
Teaching certificate (an asset);
Experience with vulnerable clientele with special needs (an asset).
Ability to play an advisory role with management, teachers, and practitioners from different backgrounds;
Proficiency in various IT platforms such as Google Suite and collaborative platforms (an asset)
Proof of success in the French test SEL or CÉFRANC or TECFÉE or the enhanced French exam of the CSSMB within three months of hiring at the latest.
